Condolences

Condolence From: Tony Weidman
Condolence: Barb,

Bobbi and I are so sorry for your loss. Bud was a great guy and helped me tremendously as Treasurer of the Ingham Association. I loved hearing his sea stories even if they got repeated!

Condolence From: Ronnie Hargrave
Condolence: My grandfather was not only family, he was my best friend, my fan club and my inspiration. He had a heart of gold, the mouth of a sailor, and he could cook the best dang steak I’ve ever had in my life! And could that old man tell a joke!

Many times I would return from visiting my grandparents to tell my dad some of the wonderful, colorful jokes Grandpa had taught me “hey dad, what do you call a lady with one leg?” OR “Have you heard the one about the two Irishmen sitting in a ditch?” Remembering my dad’s reaction still makes me laugh to this day!

Some of the best times I have ever had in my life have happened at my Grandparents house. Swimming in the hot tub that seemed to have no bottom, the time when my cousins and I got caught stealing apples from the neighbor’s place… (I was coerced,) or that other time when I ran over the patio furniture with the riding lawn mower. And lets not forget the time I took grandpa’s pellet rifle and made Swiss cheese out of the BRAND NEW MEGA MANSION BIRD HOUSE in the back yard ( to this day I don’t think one bird has inhabited that bird house)

No matter the wrongs I did, (there were a few). I always felt the unconditional love of my grandparents. Many times in my life when I have been down in the dirt, needed a place to stay or a couple bucks, my grandpa was always there to tell me he loved me so much, couldn’t be prouder of me and no matter what, I always had a HOME.

My HOME since my dad first laid my little body on my grandma’s chest while she slept in the early morning. My HOME since I brought my future wife to meet my grandparents and later when I brought my daughter to meet them for the first time. (Last time I checked, grandma and grandpa were still looking for the cordless phone my daughter lost…)

My family and I are on the journey of looking for our first home.
I hope one day I have created that HOME, that my grandparents house is to me. A home that my children and grandchildren can come to and feel that love and warmth that was created for me.

Bud, Grandpa will be truly missed but I know he is in heaven right now asking God “do you know the one about the guy who gets up to the gates of Heaven” “it’s a knee slapper!”

Condolence: I am sorry to hear of Bud's passing. I worked with him in the Comptroller Division of the 5th Coast Guard District. We both shared a love of cooking and frequently prepared breakfast for the comptroller staff. He was always fun to be around. The last time I ran into him he was cooking with Hank Foiles' dad for Hank's wedding reception. I know he will be missed. My condolences on your loss. We will keep you in our prayers.
