My Uncle Jay had a big personality, big smile and big heart. I remember when he called me in the middle of the night when I lived overseas to tell me happy birthday and because of the time change his happy birthday wishes were the first I got that year. I’ll never forget that and so many of the kind and (funny!) things he did.
Much love to Cindy in this tough time.
I will always miss you. You were my best friend. Any time I needed you, you were there for me. You listened and gave me your input. We could say anything to each other. That was yesterday! i love you.
Cindy, I will always be your friend. Jay would not have wonted it any other way.
I love you.
Susan
I really loved living across the street from you and have missed the neighborhood in the years that I have lived in Norfolk. You were a great neighbor and I know you will be missed. RIP my friend.
To those of us that lived close to you, you were “family”. We were a close group that cared about each other. One of your classic tales involved you and met in a frenzy to finish a demolition car. I was inside the car and you were cutting a hole in the hood…about that time a group of Jehovah’s Witnesses
strolled up your lane. Though the hole where the windshield had been,I saw
you roll your eyes. As they tried to talk to you I pulled out my .357 and started shooting holes throurh the floorboard to mount the seat and seatbelts.
You abted like nothing was unusual but they bid us a quick farewell. ou and I laughed many times about that day.
Farewell, friend. Keep smiling.
It has been years since I last saw you. We last spoke on the phone about a car. I remember fondly living across the street from you. I learned some car stuff and got free entertainment. The derby stories were the best. Thanks Jay.
Jay, You made us all smile in some way every day. Now smile with the angles and watch over us all. RIP “The Great Monroe”

As I reflect upon the 4 years that we interacted together at the Lipton Plant I am grateful we met. I wish you could have enjoyed that retirement a lot longer with your grandkids who you spoke of so much. Thank-you for all the stories, rest in peace.
