Alfreda Catherine Rorant, 72, passed away on June 20, 2014 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family and her closest friend. Born December 27, 1941 in Hamilton, Bermuda, she was the daughter of the late Norris Furbert and Theodora Cannonier Furbert. Freda was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who dearly adored her grandchildren. When not entertaining and partying with friends, she enjoyed quiet time working on her jigsaw puzzles and refused to be disturbed when her stories were on the television. She never met a stranger; everyone was a friend to her, and she will be truly missed.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her daughter, Gail Rorant; son, Aldonis “Moe” Furbert; sisters, Albertha Ford and her husband, Charles, and Moira Furbert Bean; brother, Reginald “Sonny” Furbert; grandchildren, Andrew, Andre, and Antoine Shanks Rorant, and Antoine, Jasmine, Chantel, Courtney, Alexis, Daniel, Jade, and Mariah Furbert; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; and dearest friends, Denise Deal and her husband, Ty. Freda is predeceased by her son, Antoine Furbert; brother, Norris Furbert, Jr. ; and brother-in-law, Graham Bean.

The family will greet friends Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 5 p.m. with a funeral service following at 6 p.m. at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations, 5401 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23464. Dr. Marvin L. Duke will officiate.
