Ann (Skias) Spirelis, born September 16, 1927, went home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2011. Beloved wife of “Gust” Spirelis and father of Paul, mother-in-law to Colleen and Grandmother to Alex and Haven of Virginia Beach.

Born in Reading, PA to Peter and Penelope Skias. Ann shared her gracious and kind personality with friends and acquaintances. Ann was dedicated to her role as mother and grandmother. Her engaging personality and quick wit endeared her to all who met her. She enjoyed playing cards and delighting family and friends with her wonderful cooking.

She has gone to join brother Chris, and sisters, Artemis, Jade, Sandy and Dora. She will be greatly missed and her memory will live in our hearts forever.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 12 p.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 621 First Colonial Rd. with Fr. James Pavlow officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11 to 12 p.m. at the church. A graveside service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Albert Horton Memorial Veterans’ Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk.

The family would like to express its appreciation to the staff of Sentara Hospice for their tender care during Mrs. Spirelis’ illness.
