Barbara Jean King, 59, passed away February 18, 2014.
Mrs. King was born April 18, 1954 to the late Forrest and Irene Akers in Washington DC. She was a Communications Supervisor with the D.C. Metro Transit Police Dispatcher for over 15 years until her retirement. After retirement, Barbara, along with her family moved to Abilene, Kansas.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 40 years, Keith King; four sons: Joshua King and wife Cavil-Ann, Ryan King and wife Dominique, Kyle King, and Aaron King; four grandchildren: Danika, Jade, Kia and Sydney; brother, James Akers and wife Tammy; and her best friends and great joys in life were her pets: “Buddy, Yappy, Tazzy, Liebe, Oshie, Fras, Frick and Frack”

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Family Choice Funerals and Cremations.

    As a dispatcher for the Metro Transit Police, Barbra guided us safely through our shifts. We owe her our thanks. Wishing blessing to her family. Thank you for sharing her with us.
