Bernice Marie Hobbs, 90, passed away peacefully, Monday, July 10th, 2017 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Bernice was born May 16, 1927 in Chocowinity, NC. She spent her childhood growing up on a farm in NC. She was married to the love of her life, the late Joseph Hobbs, for 40 years. Bernice enjoyed ceramic painting, playing cards, and reading.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary West and her husband William West, her brother, Joseph Wilkey, three grandchildren, Colette Hart and her husband Kenneth Hart, Deborah Hill and her husband Kevin Hill, and William West and his wife Susan West, and twelve great-grandchildren, Stephanie Fultz and her husband John Fultz, Christopher Hill, Daniel Hart, Stewart West, Mary West, Zachary Hill, Joshua Hill, Devin Hart, Alexandra Hill, William West, Devin West, and Lela West. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hobbs and her great-grandson, Chase Hart.

Bernice will always be remembered for her unconditional love for her family and of course, her famous chicken and dumplings.

The family would like to thank all of the nurses and hospice staff that have taken care of Bernice recently. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am, Monday July 17, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
