Charles Lewis Nuckols III, 60, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 15th, 2016 in the comfort of his home.
“Mookie” as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was born January 15, 1956 to Charles Nuckols and Margaret Woods in Norfolk, VA. He lived his life to way he intended, always leaving others with a smile. Charles was a longtime makeup artist; who had a gift for bringing the beauty out in everyone. Being an artist gave him the opportunity to work with celebrities, attend festivals and traveling; even living in South Beach for a time. As time went by, Charles gave up the party but never himself. He moved back to Virginia to assist his mother after the passing of his beloved father. Charles cared for people and seemed to never meet a stranger. “Mookie” will always be remembered as a loving son brother, nephew, cousin and friend.. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved mother, Margaret Woods; brother, Mark and numerous family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, September 23rd, 2016 at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations. 5401 Indian River Rd. Virginia Beach, VA 23464.
Please share a memory with the family via the “Condolences and Tributes” tab.

Charlie was my best friend in high school we had so much fun and he always had us smiling. Vickie and I always wanted Charlie to go every where with us. You will be truly missed by many oscar smith friends. Rip my friend love you.
They say grief is a selfish emotion. Since his passing, I’ve come to realize it is. Nevertheless, I will miss Charles more than anyone I have ever missed or ever known or ever met.
While it is true that Charles loved everyone and everyone loved Charles, he loved his mother Margaret and brother Mark the most. I know this because I was the family dentist. Their future breaks my heart. I have started a Facebook page >>https://www.facebook.com/Remembering-Charles-1757091484530877/?fref=ts<< dedicated to the man who joined me on a whirlwind tour of Europe in 2007. The pictures he took and the pictures I took of him will make us all remember him the way he wanted. (I know, because he sent most of them to me.) I hope it will make us all feel good about something that couldn't have been any more horrible. I already know he is smiling, because he smiled the entire trip. I'd like to believe he felt as I do... that nothing made him happier than those three weeks in Europe.
Charlie was one of my first friends when I started at OFS High School. We had some great times in our classes together, in the French Club and at the Prom. I can picture Charlie now in his white Nova Chevy II making deliveries for Preston’s Pharmacy (and always coming by to pick me up to make deliveries with him). He was always so personable and made everyone laugh. I will always treasure the time I spent with him through the years and the memories that we shared. I will miss you Charlie Brown.
May the beautiful memories of your loved one provide solace and strength to you and your family during this difficult time. May you also find much comfort in God’s promise of life without end on a Paradise earth. Matt 5:5 & Psalms 37:11, 29
I am so sorry to hear of Charles passing. We went to cosmetology school together in the 70’s and then worked together many years later at L.A. Glamour. He was a fun guy with amazing artistic talent.
