Charlotte Olsson, 61, went to be with The Lord on February 18, 2013, surrounded by her loving family and friends singing “Jesus Loves Me” through tears of sadness and joy. Her moment of departing the body and ascending into Heaven, was exactly as she would have prayed it be, exactly how she lived it to be. She was a loving devoted Mother, Grandmother, dear friend, member of Community United Methodist Church, active in the Stephen Ministries, active member of Tidewater Emmaus, and loving member of her HUGS, Ovarian Cancer Support Group.
Coming from a large loving family, she is survived by: two daughters, Deby Soberg and her fiancée, Ernie Graves of Norfolk, VA, and Annie Olsson-Craig and her husband Bryan Craig of Virginia Beach, VA; a son Jason Olsson and his wife, Chandra of Arlington, VA; nine grandchildren, Cameron and Courtney Soberg, Katelynn Craig, Lindsey Brown, Madison Graves, Xander Olsson, Jason Adam Olsson, Sophie Olsson and Rhyan Craig; a great-grandson Braylon Edwards; the father of her children Lars Olsson; one sister Margaret Embry of McHenry, IL; two brothers Dewayne Soberg and his wife Mary of Philips, WI and Gerald Soberg and his wife Kathy of Harvard, IL; and many, many more adored and adoring family members throughout the United States.
Our Mother, Char’s life and chosen path were a blessing to so many that she touched each day. She was a teacher and mentor in her actions even more than her quiet, kind, and wise words. Leading by Christian example, this was the path that she chose and lived with every ounce of her breath and life. For those of us left on this Earth, our greatest tribute to her, would be to follow her example as she followed the example of Our Lord Jesus Christ, to be kind, to be caring, to be compassionate, to be empathetic, to listen, to love, to help and to foster God’s love for His Children. What a beautiful example she was. What a beautiful Angel we all now have looking over us. Consider the love she shared with you in life. Now imagine the love that she shares shining down from Heaven. Now, imagine what you can do for others with that love shining down on you.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Community United Methodist Church. 1072 Old Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23464. A reception at the church will follow the service.

Annie and Family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you during this most difficult time. Your mom was an amazing woman and she will be greatly missed.
Love that pretty smiling face Mom. Getting things ready for your Celebration of Life. Breaking my heart but making my soul and my heart warm all at the same time. I miss you more than I could have ever imagined. I still look for your texts, jump when my phone rings and long to call you and hear your wonderful calming voice. You look after our family and friends. You have this watch. Mine will come some day but in the meantime, I am on point down here. I love you all the time my beautiful Mother, Jason
I think of the days we all played as kids at family get togethers.I will charish those memories. My prayers and thoughts will be with all her family and friends.God Bless
Annie and Jason,
My thoughts and prayers go out to you during this time. I remember your mom always knew just what to say at the right time. She always had an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on if needed. She was such a strong woman and she has great strong children. She will be missed.
My dear friend I will miss you so much but am so glad you are in a better place and out of pain. I will help keep an eye on the kids as I promised. Love you, Cheryl
My dearest Char. I would like to thank you for teaching/showing me what family life is all about. You took me in to your home as a troubled teenager and treated me as one of your own. I will be forever grateful to you for saving my life. I miss your smiling face, but know I will see it again one day. Until then, rest in peace my angel.
The things I say cannot begin to even touch the impact beautiful Vhar has had, & continues to have, upon all with whom she came in contact. It has been a blessing to learn from her quiet, strong, steady approach to life in this world before & during her battle with cancer.
Oh, my friend how you will be missed; yet I know you are in that “great cloud of witnesses” spoken of in Hebrews 12:1
Prayers of comfort for all the family!
Offered in faith,
Rene Murden
Words cannot express how sad I am. Char was a lovely lady and I am so glad to have known her.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family. May God wrap His loving arms around you all and hold you close. She will surely be missed. I met Char as I was part of the Hugs group before I moved to NV recently. Everytime I saw Char she would always have the brightest smile and share her love and caring ways. I know she is celebrating big time right along side our Lord Jesus. Although I am very saddened of her passing, I rejoice that we will all be together one day. Many prayers, hugs and much love, God Bless you.
eeI will forever love and miss you my dear sister
our love, thoughts and prayers go out to all her family and freinds
Sweet Sweet Char….I looked up the meaning of “grace” and there was your name! You were a teacher to us all….In your own way you showed us how to have acceptance, love, gentleness, patience, and kindness. I am thankful for your life and for the “goodness” you brought to our HUGS group.
It’s hard to know what to say, except that we’re thinking of you in friendship and in sympathy during your time of loss.
Annie & Lindsey:
Sydney and I were very sad to hear of your mother/grandmother’s passing. You are in our prayers. Peace and love be with you during your grief.
I will remember the many cups of coffee we had together-especially when our men were out protecting our country. I will always love and miss you Char and thanks for sharing your family with me. God has blessed us all through you my friend.
Char was an angel in disguise, always setting the example of how to put others first; even if she was ill. I will miss Char here on earth but she will always remain in my heart.
My prayers are with the family at this difficult time.
Been struggling with what to say here, it is very hard for me! We met met 44 years ago and fell in love, were married for almost 26 years. The last time I saw Char was at my apartment on 20 January, she sat next to me and as always smiled, as she left we hugged closely and both said I LOVE YOU……yes there is another angle. You are with God now, I Love You So Very Much….
A AUNT THAT WILL BE GREATLY MISSED, ALTHOUGH WE NEVER GOT TO SEE MUCH OF EACH OTHER i will always remember you, sorry for the family, i know she will be missed, GOD BLESS.
