Mrs. Dale Wagers Wilson, 68, passed away on Saturday, December 13th, 2014 in Virginia Beach.
Dale Wagers Wilson came into the world on Nov. 1st, 1946, and the place has never been the same. From a very young age, Dale’s determination of spirit was evident. No task was too big, no obstacle too great to keep her from the finish line. Early on, this manifested itself mostly in the world of education. Dale loved school! She would often say if she could be a professional student, that’s exactly what she would be. Yes, school was a happy place for Dale. It was also a place where she met many of her life long friends. Some of you will no doubt remember some classic Dale moments:
The car affectionately known as “The Bomb” being swept out to sea as Dale’s attention was understandably focused on a boy and a six-pack. Thanks to Mr. Brinkley for saving the day!
Ahh. Dale’s first day on the job as a medical assistant, and the proper procedure for handling a nose bleed. I’m sure Dale’s boss, and the elderly woman she treated, have never forgotten that moment!
A great example of Dale’s patience and sense of humor might be the moment her youngest brother dropped and broke a huge glass container of salad dressing on her kitchen floor. Dale looked at him with a twinkle in her eye and asked, “What kind was it?” Nothing but laughter after that, and what a wonderful laugh she had. It was full, committed, and reflected the way she moved through this world: with grace, courage, dignity, and most of all, love.
Most of you know that for many, many years the physical world was a battleground for Dale. For all of the challenges she faced, there was never a complaint, never a “woe is me”. That indomitable spirit Dale showed as a young girl revealed itself in all its glory as she met and overcame each new challenge. Courage, grace, generosity of spirit, loyalty, and love: Always love. These are the qualities that were the essence of Dale. And nowhere were they more manifest than in her love for her son, Owen Michael. He was her joy and comfort, and her love for him was boundless.
So, for Dale, daughter, sister, friend, mother, and partner: lover of the Redskins, well done London broil, the Supremes, laughter and libation, cutting a rug, roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, Bailey, Sam, butterflies, and smiles. “You are an artist, and your heart is your masterpiece.” We love you, and you will forever live on in us. Thank you.
A celebration of life will be held at on Sunday, December 21st, 2014 at 2:00 pm with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior.

I have just now seen this and believe that this is the same wonderful Dale who was a bridesmaid in my wedding and good friend during our years at Emory University where she was studying deaf education. I would so like to hear from someone who could catch me up on this. Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of a wonderful woman who surely made a mark on this world!
