  4. Ole Dan has been my partner at work for the last couple of years. We have done a number of jobs with the Vac Truck and Tanker some easier than others. I am not exaggerating when I say that he has caught me about to make some error or remind me of something I forgot when doing a task on the water front or on the yard. He showed much tolerance and patience with me when I would sometimes talk endlessly about topics that mattered little to him. I was close enough to him to know he wasn’t in the best of health but his illness and death did take my by surprise. I will miss picking him up in the morning to take him to work and taking him back home in the afternoon and at times late in the evening. He didn’t talk a whole lot about his family but he did convey that he was especially proud of how his son Dan (not Jr from what I understand) had gotten himself a new job and was doing the best he could to be a responsible father to his two children. Of his grandchildren I know Nicholus (forgive my spelling) the best. He is the oldest and from what I observed is how Dan brags of how well he does in school. My deepest sympathy to his family. I would like to think that one day when I expire that Dan will be there in heaven to show me around.
