David Leonard Baxley, 59, passed away on Saturday, December 31st, 2016 in the comfort of his home.
David was born December 22, 1957 to the late Claude and Ruby Baxley in Long Island, NY. In 1958, the family moved to Norfolk, VA where David lived for the remainder of his life. David worked sheetrock installer for a number of years; but his true love was being on the water. He was a merchant marine and then worked on a scallop boat. David loved being around people and they loved being around him. He was kind to everyone and wouldn’t hesitate to help a stranger. David will always be remembered for his witty sense of humor, his smile and his love of life. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory are: daughter, Jessica Williamson; four grandchildren: Nicole, Makayla, Sunny, and Abel; two sisters: Shelia Lee and Sheena Finnigan and husband Mike; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday January 13th, 2017 at Family Choice Funerals &
Cremations.
May your soul rest in peace, dear David, beloved of my Jackie and many others. I miss you very much, even though I know you are in a far better place and finally free of pain. Give your sister a hug and kiss for me. Love you.
I will miss you always. Your beautiful smile and kind heart will be with me forever. Our family will speak of you often and laugh a lot because of the memories you gave us. If you see my dad (Bill Baxley) tell him I miss him more each day. David you will be missed but never forgotten. May God give you peace. Love you cousin.
I will miss you so much Uncle David. You are with my mom, Angela, Mama, Papa, Wayne, and Greg in heaven now. I love you!
We have a lot of great memories together, you were a hand full sometimes, but we were always a family. So many funny times and through all the years from our 20’s we never forgot all those great times. We shared those stories over and over and laughed together. You will never be forgotten no matter how far away you are. Until we see you again, be good and tell everyone we know in heaven we will never forget them and miss you all. Love and friendship always and peace be with you.
R.I.P. Uncle David. I am so thankful I have so many hilarious memories of you, you were the funniest man I’ve ever known. You will be deeply missed. May your soul rest in peace.<3
