
David L. Kern, 84, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away October 28, 2021. David was born on June 1, 1937, in Faribault, MN to George and Emma Kern.
David worked as a mechanical engineering technician for the Atlantic Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Norfolk, VA. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. He loved spending time with his family, sailing, and playing cards and other games with his family and friends.
David is survived by his wife Christine; his two sons, Ronald Jay and Geoffrey Lloyd; two grandsons, Ronald David and Christopher Robert (all of Virginia Beach); one sister, Inez Bjorklund of Faribault, MN; sister-in-law, Violet Kern of Mankato, MN; sister-in-law, Juanita Enlow Gray (husband Jim) of Buxton, NC; two brothers-in-law, Marvin W. Enlow of Ft. Valley, GA, and Horace M. Enlow (wife Dorothea) in TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Emma Kern; his stepmother, Esther Kern; two sisters, Elta N. Kern of Memphis, TN, and Audrey Kern Inman of Sitka, AK; one brother, Robert G. Kern of Mankato, MN; two nephews, Thomas Kern of Hutchinson, MN, and David Inman of Sitka, AK.
David will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 6th at Hope Lutheran Church starting at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.
