My dad used to always say “Tell me a story” But let me tell you a story about my dad’s life. He lived in the present, every day was a gift, and he truly felt he lived a fulfilling life.
Donald Wayne Dixon was born in North Carolina and talked often about how much he missed his home on the farm. He was a loving father to his four children, Kristina, Tara, Jewelia and Slayton. He was also a wonderful grandfather, friend, brother, uncle cousin and son. He was a commercial painter and his pride in his work led to him painting several hotels at the ocean front in Virginia Beach.
Spending as much time on the beach as he did naturally became one of his favorite places to be. He fulfilled the true meaning of a beach bum. He was a talented musician and he played the drums exceptionally. Our dad was also artistically inclined. He had a passion for painting art and continued his love to paint until his last days. Other than his hobbies we have always been told that his most favorite times were with his children.
We lost our father at the age of 53 on June 10, 2016, a day we will never forget. He had a heart of gold, funny, laid-back and fun to be around. He was always known to be very friendly and outgoing. He will be greatly missed by many. The memory of Donald Wayne Dixon will live in our hearts forever.

My heart is heavy and so deeply saddened. Donald’s uniqueness made him a true original. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, especially his children Kristina, Tara, Jewelia, and Slayton. Peace and blessings to all he has touched.
My brother was an original. He always smiled and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh and shared wonderful stories with everyone. He was very talented and painted many pictures to send to his Mother. He loved his four children and thought about them often. I will always smile when I think of him.
I will miss you, cuz. What fun we used to have and what trouble we used to get in together! I can’t imagine growing up without you. My favorite memories of childhood are of you, Gale, Keith, and Harry coming to visit us “on the farm”. Good times! I love you.
Every now and then when I am bored I look up old friends on the computer. I was shocked and saddened to find Donald had passed away. I met Donald Wayne when I moved to VA and lived in the neighborhood for a year or so. We were very young teens. I became friends with his group of friends and I remember him as being silly and very funny. We were too young to know where our lives would take us at that time, but he made a strong enough impression for me to think of him often throughout the years. I’m glad to find that he had such a caring family and I am not surprised that he turned out to be a wonderful man, father, and talent. He will forever be in my memories.
