
Donald Melvin Wood, 68, of Virginia Beach, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012, at his home, with his loving family by his side. Born on April 18, 1943, in Patterson, NJ, he was the son of the late Herbert, Sr. and Lillian Aldrich Wood.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Patricia Wood; three daughters, Tina Yonker, Lisa Holland, and Tricia Leyden; brother, Eric Wood; sister, Marilyn Semf; three grandsons, Marc Anthony Maldonado, Jr., Zachary Cardenas, and Grant Leyden; two granddaughters, Maria Maldonado and Grace Yonker; and many more family and friends. Besides his parents, Donald was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert, Jr., John, and Richard; and his sister, Lorraine Lewis.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11th, at 3 p.m., at Thalia United Methodist Church, 4321 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, 23452.

Rest in peace Chief. Don and I served together in the Navy on-board the USS America in the early 1980’s. I never ever heard him raise his voice in anger, always had a smile and was a pleasure to be around. I didn’t know his family but I do know that they were what really mattered to him.
