My deepest condolences to the Loper/McIntire families. I grew up with Vickie, Terrell and Peggy. Mrs. Loper made a lasting positive impression on my life. One of the nicest most pleasant woman I’ve ever known. Her open love of Jesus and family was always present. Although I moved from Virginia Beach shortly after high school, Mrs. Loper crossed my mind often over the years. Rest In Peace Mrs. Loper
Aunt Doris was one of a kind and loved her family, friends and most of all her Heavenly Father! I had tried to call her several times a while back but never could get her. Then she called me one day and said she had gotten several calls from this number and I told her that I had been trying to call her, she said who is I? When I told her who I was, she acted like it got off with her that she didn’t have my number saved in her phone! She told me that I must’ve changed my number! I told her I’d had this number since 2005! She laughed and we talked awhile then we said our goodbye’s! I always enjoyed our talks! She always knew what to say to make someone feel special! I’m going to miss her but I know she was ready to go home! I love y’all, Vicki, Peggy and Terrell! I will keep all of you in my prayers!
When my wife and I visited London Bridge Baptist Church many years ago, Doris was the first person to introduce herself to us. As it turned out, she knew my grandmother and other family members from back in Sidon, Mississippi. This connection led to a friendship that lasted many years. She was a very sweet Christian lady who inspired many others in their faith.
As many of you know, my grandmother Doris Loper passed on Monday. In all the time we had to prepare for this nothing could truly prepare me for the moment she would be separated from myself and my family. While I will miss her, I know my grandmother is not sad. She is with Christ celebrating and as so many say, it is not a goodbye but merely a “I’ll see you later”. For the 91 years she was alive, my grandmother lived a phenomenal life for Christ and was always happy to let her beliefs and opinions be known, even if I found them embarrassing at times. I will miss her witty and loving remarks and most certainly the way she used to point, at everything, like a mother scolding her child. She was a mother, a sister, a daughter, a teacher, a friend, an aunt, and my grandmother and she did it with such grace that I pray that for as long as I live, that I will know the same love and patience that she did. That I will able to follow Christ like she did. Please continue to pray for my family during this time.
Doris was my teacher, mentor, friend and most importantly my grandmother. She would let me tag along everywhere she went. Because of that I learned to love Missions as she did. She was always doing or helping some kind of Ministry. I have so many fond memories that if hard to choose which to share.so to name a few; When I was younger she would take me to BK every Sunday after church.; I remember asking my mom it seemed almost every night if grandma could come over for Dinner and Grandma said she loved being called and asked that .; my grandma didn’t have cable when I was younger so when I’d go to her house she would Entertain me in a number of ways. From dressing up in her sewing scraps as a bible character or Indian to playing rummy cube, Chinese checkers, dominos to let me mess up cookies and her having to remake and cook them. I love my Grandma and look forward to seeing her again in Heaven.
