
Dorothy D. Colwell, a long-time resident of Topsham, ME died on March 1, 2013 in VA Beach. She was born on June 4, 1930 in Glen Cove, NY, to the late Edmund J. and Lucy Reichert Denzler. She graduated from Sea Cliff (NY) High School, Berkeley Secretarial School of New York City, and for many years was employed as a legal secretary, retiring from McTeague-Higbee of Topsham in 1992.
In 1955 she married Anthony M. Colwell, Jr., who predeceased her in 2001. She was also predeceased by her son, Anthony, III, in 1980. She was an avid reader, whose other hobbies included needle-work, gardening and geneology, having traced her family back multiple generations.
Her survivors include her daughters, Mary Hally and her husband, Matthew of Branford, CT, Christine Colwell and her partner, Joseph Bent of Nobleboro, ME, Jane Colwell of Branford, CT, Rosemary Gagnon and her husband, Mark, and Geri Metzger, all of VA Beach; two grand-children, Erin Metzger and Mark Hally; a sister, Helen Denzler of Springfield, OR; several nieces and nephews; and cherished cousins, Chris and Barbara Reichert of Van Wert, OH.
A memorial mass will be offered on Saturday, March 9th at 11 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 1968 Sandbridge Road, Virginia Beach with Fr. Robert Cole officiating.
