
VIRGINIA BEACH- Edith Lapsley Anderson Roebuck, 90, went to be with the lord Thursday February 23, 2012 and rejoined her husband of 58 years James Raleigh Roebuck.
Born in Tarboro, NC she was the daughter of the late Linwood and Nell Anderson. She graduated form Leggets High School and furthered her education in Norfolk Virginia completing Secretarial School. This is where she met Raleigh and they were married March 4th 1953. She worked at the City of Norfolk and at Hapag Lloyd Shipping. At retirement she relocated with her husband Raleigh to Robersonville NC where they attended Landmark Baptist Church. At his passing in 1997she moved to Chesapeake VA.
She was preceded by her brother’s Ethna Earl and James Anderson, and by her stepson Jim Roebuck.
She is survived by daughter Donna Allen Stepdaughters Barbara Johnson, Jeanette Kerr, and Shirley Eads, and Stepson Herman Roebuck; sisters Selma Weeks, Eileen Anderson, and Shelby Ruddy with many nieces, nephews, 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She was and still is in heaven a follower of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour and along with her favorite scriptures she found comfort in “Footprints”. She enjoyed needlepoint, and crossword puzzles. Her favorite TV programs were In Touch with Charles Stanley and JAG. She was surrounded by loving pets and especially loved Daisy, a yellow lab mix who kissed her hands and loved her very much. She enjoyed eating at IHOP, Olive Garden and going to the Grocery store as she liked to walk and stay active.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the Roebuck Family Cemetery in the township of Robersonville, North Carolina, with Pastor John T. Woodley presiding. A gathering following the service will be announced.
