
Mamie Elizabeth Poff Ahart Frango, 93, went to be with the Lord in her heavenly home August 9, 2011.
Born in Bluefield, West Virginia December 29th, 1917, she was the last surviving of 12 children born to William Asa Poff and Rhoda Jane Poff.
Their to welcome her home were her husbands Robert O. Ahart and Patsy J. “Pat” Frango, her son Elmer F. Ahart, Sr. and grandson Howard Lee Ahart.
She was a loving mother and faithful member of the Salvation Army since 1969. She was a past Sunday School Teacher, Hospitality Sergeant, Women’s Correspondence Sergeant, a member of the Home League and for many years rang the Bells for the Christmas Kettle Campaign. “Mrs. Elizabeth” or Grannie as she was known to many, loved gospel music and seldom missed a concert.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Patricia A. Troester and husband Wayne, Elizabeth Carol Uhl and hushand Bill, 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great granchildren and a host of family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 12th from 6:30 to 8:00pm at Family Choice Funerals and Cremations, 5401 Indian River Road in Virginia Beach.
A service of love, music and remembrance celebrating her life will be conducted Saturday, August 13th at 10:00am at the Salvation Army, 5516 Raby Road in Norfolk, with Lt.Jacob Granados officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday a Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby Street in Norfolk.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Sentara Hospice, Nurse Wanda Wyatt, Chaplain Chris Fosback, the staff of Dr. E. Beaumont Hodge, M.D. , and Oakwood Nursing and Rehabilitation for their care and
compassion during this time.

Grandma was the best a grandchild could ask for. Always full of love and caring. A strong woman who loved the Lord and her family with all her heart. You will forever be missed and never forgotten. Mamaw, there is no other like you! The lessons you taught me as a little girl have remained with me thoughout my life and will continue to guide me though this path of life. I think of you often and have such wonderful childhood memories because of you. Like so many, you are like a grandma to me and I am so very blessed to have had you in my life.
