
E. Sherman Hall, 98 yrs, 11 months, joined his beloved wife in eternal rest on April 30, 2015. He retired from the Post Office in Covington, Va.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and Korean Conflict. He was a charter member of Calvary Christian Church, Covington, Va.; attended Bethany Christian Church, Roanoke. He loved music, sang in church choirs, Thursday Morning Music Club Chorus and Rinky Dinks Men’s Chorus. He played classical 12 string guitar. His tenor voice now joins Heaven’s choir he and Libby can again sing their favorite duet, ““Whispering Hope”.
Being raised on a farm, he could repair almost anything. He overhauled several cars, remodeled his home doing his own work including plumbing and electrical. His avocation was cabinet making. He made antique reproduction furniture using wooden dowels instead of screws and his furniture exists from NY to FL and CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Elizabeth Puckett Hall; and his son, Sherman Louis Hall.
He is survived by his son, John, of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Dana Spencer, of Pensacola, Fla., Derek Hall and three great-grandsons, of Frederick, Md.; a nephew, five nieces and five grand-nieces and four grand-nephews from Long Island, N.Y. and Merritt Island, Fla.; a niece and grand-niece in CA, a niece in Fremont, OH and five nieces from Pulaski, Richmond, New England and a grand niece from Miami, FL.
A memorial service will be held later when the family can make travel arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Calvary Christian Church or Thursday Morning Music Club.
