Eric Michael Bowen, age 58, a longtime resident of Chesapeake, Virginia passed away August 12, 2020. Eric was born on May 8, 1962 in New Jersey to Ira and Phyllis Bowen.
To know Eric was to love him. He was a proud member and past president of Great Bridge Fisherman’s Association and had a passion for helping with Wish-A-Fish and Adopt-A-Senior. He loved spending his time with his friends and family fishing and camping and enjoying each other’s company.
He is survived by his two children, his daughter, Erin Leigh and her husband Roger Burns and son Evan Mitchell, whom he shared with former spouse Mindy Salabarria. He was thrilled to be Pappy to his grandchildren Bowen Reid and Sadie Reese Burns. Surviving also are his brother Steven(Lori) and his sister Julia(Kim), nieces, nephews and countless other friends who he considered family-most notably Robert Moody and Debbie Whitfield who cared for him so well in his last days.
He was predeceased by his parents, and brothers David and Michael.
Eric will always be remembered as a loving father and friend. He loved fishing any chance he could and talking about it when he couldn’t. He loved to cook for everyone and was kind and generous to everyone he met.
He had a life filled with people who loved him deeply and will miss him greatly but rejoice in knowing he is fully healed and hurting no more.

Eric was a kind and gentle man. He was one of the most polite people I have met. His kids and grandbabies were his world. And fishing was definitely a passion he was very knowledgeable about. It was also a tie to so many of his friends and his family. Eric had a caring group of friends that he loved dearly and they loved him. The bond he shared with Evan and Erin was unbreakable. May he rest in peace. Happy fishing Eric.
