Eva Ann Hutchinson, 61, of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away November 25, 2021. Eva was born on June 25,
1960 in Providence, Rhode Island to Eugene and Ruth Szczepanski.
Eva worked in child nutrition at Tarrallton Elementary for over 20 years. While working at Tarrallton, she
met so many wonderful people that became some of her dearest friends and family. She was a Girl
Scout leader for over 15 years and helped shape the lives of many young girls and women while creating
lifelong bonds with many. Eva’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved sharing stories of the family
farm when she was a little girl, life in Vermont watching the leaves change in the fall, growing up in
Ohio, and all the adventures she and the family went on. She loved visiting Colorado as much as
possible, often taking as many grandkids as she could with her. She loved the outdoors, and was a lover
of animals. Eva was a loyal and loving friend and was always there to share words of wisdom, a shoulder
to cry on, or a helping hand. She loved with an intensity that often left a mark on those she came in
contact with, no matter how brief. Eva was the type to give the shirt off her back to help those in need,
especially when it came to her grandchildren or the children she worked with. Even towards the end of
her life, her only concern was for those around her. She was a remarkable woman and will live on in the
memories of the many people who she touched over the years.
Eva is survived by her husband of 33 years, Keith; sons: Michael (Cheyenne) Szczepanski, and Peter
(Jennifer) Hutchinson; daughters: Erica Hutchinson and Rachael Hutchinson; grandchildren: Stanley
Michael, Michael, Logan, William, Sophia, Scarlett, Anthony, and Emily; mother Ruth Szczepanski and
brother Joseph Szczepanski; honorable mentions: Ann Gaylord and Paula Miller.
She was predeceased by her father Eugene Szczepanski and brother Michael B. Szczepanski. Eva will
always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
In lieu of flowers, Eva would like her friends and family to donate to “The Elephant Sanctuary in

Eva was a great friend and neighbor. She gave me a shoulder to lean and cry on after my son passed away.We would have movie and dinner dates..We laughed and cried together.Thank you Eva.
Eva was one of a kind. I loved the twinkle in her eye when she was saying or telling a story just a bit unlike her usual stuff. She educated the cancer community in what others needed and was a major advocate for students at Tarrallton and the Girl Scouts. She adored her family with never ending love. She was my friend and I will miss her immensely. We had so many great conversations and laughs.
Ms. Eva was my girl scout troop leader for the better part of 10 years of my life and was like a second mother to me growing up. She gave the best hugs. She encouraged me to become a more confident and outgoing young woman, and her sarcasm and humor always kept me on my toes. The love she had for her girl scouts and her family was undeniable and I cannot thank God enough for allowing me to experience her love and compassion first hand. I love you Ms. Eva ❤️
