Gayle Leslie “Gaye” Hoel, 88, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 in Norfolk, VA. Born on May 31, 1926 in Mercer County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Obed Pennington and Ersel Dunn Pennington. Gaye was a homemaker in her own home and will be remembered for her independent spirit.

She is survived by her son, Barry Callis and his wife, Betty of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother, Arnold Pennington of Rich Creek, VA; three grandchildren, Michelle Callis of Virginia Beach, VA, Jeffrey and Serena Bennett of Virginia; four great-grandchildren, Michael Bennett, McKinzie Bennett, Chance St. Claire, and Anna Freeman of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
