
Gene Phillip Morris, 75, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in Norfolk, VA. Born on October 3, 1939 in Perquimans County, NC, he was the son of the late Joseph D. Morris and Lillian Pearl Wynn Morris and husband of the late Shirley Morris. Gene was a veteran of the U.S.Navy. He was an independent truck driver and when not on the road, he was a free-lance photographer. He was a member of Azalea Garden Church of God and loved to fellowship with other senior adults in the “Young at Heart” ministry. Gene dearly loved his family and especially his grandchildren, which he called his “Babies.” He will be remembered for his servant’s heart and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by a sister, Doris Williams and her husband, Norman of Georgetown, FL; a brother, Bobby C. Morris of West Plains, MO; a niece Kathy Bass Reynolds and her husband, Jerry of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Kaya Love Morris and Phillip Michael Morris of Windsor, VA; a foster daughter, Angela Wilson of Norfolk, VA; and many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Gene is predeceased by his son, Phillip Morris; two brothers; Joseph Morris, Norman Lee Morris; and sister, Virginia Bass. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Harbour Pointe Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Norfolk, VA for their loving care for Gene over the past year.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Azalea Garden Church of God, 1541 Centerville Turnpike, Virginia Beach, VA 23464. Senior Adult Pastor, John Wagner officiating.

Uncle Gene- This is how you were lovingly called by your neice Kathy. I was lucky enough to meet you on a couple of her many visits to take care of you. You always smiled and seemed so Happy to see your little Kathy. She is a God Send to many and I know that you appreciated all that she did for you when you became ill.
Kathy. I am so sorry for your loss, but know that your Mom is shining down with smiling eyes at you! You are amazing and she appreciates all that you did for her brother! You are truly a blessed angel in my eyes!
