Gloria Maxine Nicolai, 82, passed away peacefully in Virginia Beach, VA on February 20, 2014. Born July 8, 1931 in Danforth, ME, she was the daughter of the late George and Lillian Cowan. Gloria was an avid reader who also loved to dance and teach astrology to her friends and family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 65 years, Philip Douglas Nicolai; sons, Philip A. Nicolai, David G. Nicolai, and John A. Nicolai and his wife, Dawn; sisters, Eleanor Carver and Marian Clark; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Vera Yaniga; and brothers, Earl and Owen Cowan.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, March 1, 2014 from noon to 2 p.m. at the family home.

    To my Uncle Philip, cousins Philip, David, John and his wife Dawn. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of this beautiful woman and your mother. Gloria always lit up the room! Love to you all.
