Grace Frances Dunn Curry, 92, passed away peacefully at Harbors Edge in Norfolk, Virginia on December 5th, 2013. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts.
She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Curry, MD, with whom she had three sons, one of whom preceded her in death, Malcolm H. Curry. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Matt Matrisian. Her brother, Alfred Dunn, and her sister, Dorothea Dunn Pike also preceded her in death.
She graduated from Mass Memorial Nursing School and practiced there as a Registered Nurse. She was a former President of the Maryland Doctor’s Wives Association and was very active in the politics of improving patient medical affairs.
Grace was a superb Mom and Nana! She dedicated her life selflessly to helping others and was always there for her family. She was an accomplished bridge player and a golf enthusiast–she’d kill you from 100 yards in.
Left to cherish her memories is her son, CAPT Merrill D. Curry, USN, Retired, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; her granddaughter, Kimberli C. Madson and her husband, Jim of Norfolk, Virginia – both of whom were crucial to her care; her great grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Ashley, Drew and Erika; and, her great great grandson, Dash. She also left behind many Matrisian sons and daughters and a host of close relatives in New England.
Remembrances will be private with the local family celebrating a life graciously lived and very well done. Memorials may be posted online at FamilyChoiceFunerals.com.
Cheers and thanks to Harbors Edge, Memory Support and to Hospice and Palliative Care of Tidewater for caring for Grace with much love, dignity and respect.
