
Helen Hood, 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born October 7, 1923 in Hamilton County, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Frank Batton and Helen Roberts. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Clair B. Hood; four sons, Larry Hood and his significant other, Jeannie Carr of Chesapeake, Burt Hood and his wife, Cheryl Hood of Middleburg, FL, Robert Hood of Baton Rouge, LA, and Mickey Hood and his significant other Kathy Beck of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Lynn Hood of Lynchburg, VA, and Tammy Jennings of Chesapeake; a wonderful sister, Marian Koehl of Cincinnati, OH; Grandchildren, Christine Bovat and her significant other, John Ackerman of Chesapeake; Kimberly Hood of Mechanicsville, VA; Penny Layne Sullivan and her husband, Patrick of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Clifton Hood and his wife, Robin Hood of Miami, FL, Burt Ryan Hood and his significant other, Monica Cestone of Hawaii; Heather Jennings and her significant other, Wesley Sample of Chesapeake, Amanda “Mandie” Newton and her husband, Robert of Chesapeake, Brett Hood and his wife, Samantha of Middleburg, FL, Drew Jennings and his significant other, Kelly Jones of Chesapeake, Ty Wade Hood and his significant other, Renee Hatcher of Middleburg, FL; Rebecca “Becky” Hood of Baton Rouge, LA, Jennifer “Jenny” Hood of Baton Rouge, LA, Lisa Hood of Baton Rouge, LA; Great-Grandchildren, Bailey, Sydney, and Payten Bovat, Samuel Ackerman, Shelby, Carter, and Nikki Blanchard, Mason and Kara Sullivan, Brianna and Kaitlyn Fenstermaker, Savannah Sample, Robbie and Macie Newton, and Brian Russell Hood; near born, Dallas Verebely and Khloe Jennings. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond Roberts of Boston, MA, Lawrence Roberts of Cincinnati, OH and Frank “Junior” Roberts of Cincinnati, OH; loving grandparents Sarah Henson Roberts and John Roberts of Cincinnati, OH.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 27th at 2 p.m. at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations, 5401 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach. Condolences may be made via the online guestbook.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Chesapeake Regional Hospice for their care during Mrs. Hood’s illness.

You were always like a mom to all of us. I will miss you truley. I remember my 21st birthday when you took me to my first club.It was a military club at that lol.When our own mom passed away you were there for us I just wish I could be there for your family. Your are going to be missed by alot of people. Rest in peace ms. hood. I will always love you.
