Herb was a brother in the Lord and a good friend. I always enjoyed spending time with him. He was an outstanding Gideon and witnessed for Jesus continually. He set an example of what a christian man should be like.

Herb was a very special man and we know he will be missed by many. We have known him and his family for many years and always had a love and admiration for this man of God. We know where he is right now and someday will see him again.
We loved him and his wife and family.
Our deepest sympathies to you all. We have walked this road and know the heartaches you will face, but we also know the joy you have in knowing that your Dad & Grand Dad Cis with Jesus. We will see him again. All our Love and Prayers.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Our love & prayers.
Will always remeber him as my fourth grade Sunday school teacher. He was a faithful Christ follower! Can’t think of a better way to live, but to live with Christ as I remembered he did, and encouraged me too as well.
God has blessed all of us that knew and loved Herb. For me Kempsville Baptist
Church will never be the same without him.
I will always remember his sweet smile, hugs, cards and
encouragement when needed. Herb called me a couple months ago, we had a wonderful talk. That was the kind of person he was.
He had many health problems but he cared about everyone else and wanted you to know he was praying for you and that God loves you.
He is the Christian I aspire to be like.
My sincere thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
Remembering “Mr. Hathaway” brings back fond memories of my teenage years when i first met him, first as my friend Shannon’s father, and then as my sister-in-laws father. I remember him as a kind and “jolly” guy that made you feel welcome and comfortable around him. He will surely be missed here in this life, but I am happy for him as he is well and in heaven waiting for us one day. We send our love and prayers to our family.
