
Howard Lowe Flora, Jr., 70, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 15th, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
“Junior” as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was born December 26, 1944 to Howard L. Flora, Sr. and Juanita Earp Withrow at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. He served our country proudly in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Double Tree Hotel until his retirement. Howard will always be remembered as a loving father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed. Howard is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 19 years, Berneda Strickland Flora; father, Howard Sr., brothers, Keith Allen Withrow and David Raymond Flora.
Left to cherish his memory are: three sons, Scott Flora and wife Nancy, Gene Flora, Michael S. Strickland and wife Meredith; mother, Juanita Withrow; five sisters: Mildred Kellum and husband Donald, Barbara Sweat and husband Jimmy, Linda Scott and husband Michael, Ginger Harris and husband Vince, Mary Welton and husband Mike; two brothers, Donney Flora, and Paul Flora and wife Jennifer; six grandchildren: Courtney Flora, Nicole Flora, Rebecca Flora, Ethan Flora, Dexter Strickland; a beloved best friend, “Sammy” and a number of extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations with a Celebration of Life to be held at 7:00 p.m.

I will always remember Junior saying “look what I can do” holding his arm straight out,and then proceeding to try and raise his leg to kick his hand and not even coming close ! That was Junior always try to make people laugh! Our thoughts,prayers and love our with the family.
