Jaime Bascos Lopez
April 2, 1955 – September 16, 2023
“A life well lived”
Jaime Bascos Lopez, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle and friend, passed from this earthly life on September 16, 2023, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA. He was born on April 2, 1955 in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines.
Throughout his life, Jaime touched the hearts of those who knew him with his kindness, compassion and loyalty. Growing up, Jaime had a lasting friendship with classmates at St. Mary’s University High School in Bayombong (Class 1968/1972), a bond that has endured to this day. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 42 years, Cresilinda, and their love was a testament to the power of commitment and understanding. He was a dedicated father to his five children, Jaifred, Joanna, John, Jane and James, having inculcated in them a lifelong love of music, learning, creativity and adventure.
In his professional career, Jaime exemplified dedication and the value of teamwork. Prior to his move to the United States in 2012, Jaime took up roles in the Philippine government service, as well as a stint in putting up a garments business and as a notary public. Upon arrival in Virginia Beach, he served in the loss prevention industry and the hospitality sector.
Jaime was gifted with many talents: as a musician, cook, singer, all-around handyman, the list went on. He had a great sense of humor and brought life to family gatherings with his artistry and wit. He also loved dogs: in his last years, he considered Teddy, Mia, Jojo and Cookie (his children’s pets) as his best friends.
Jaime is survived by his wife Cresilinda, his children and in-laws Jaifred Christian, Joanna Christine and Gerald, John Christopher and Leslie Anne, Jane Christen and Lisa, and James Christan; and grandson Gabriel Jeremy. He is also survived by his sisters Teresita and Josefina, his brother Jose, and their respective families.
A memorial service to celebrate Jaime’s life will be held at the Catholic Church of St. Mark (1505 Kempsville Rd, Virginia Beach) on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 11 o’ clock in the morning. The family kindly requests your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Jaime’s presence will be sorely missed by his grieving family and friends. While he may no longer be with us in person, his memory will live on among those whom he has indelibly touched.
