
James Alan Osmunson, 57, passed away after a short battle with cancer on Tuesday, March 12th in Norfolk. Born in Portsmouth, he was the son of the late Lorence R. and Etta Phillips Osmunson. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a tile setter and loved the Washington Redskins and New York Mets.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Nicole Osmunson; 3 grandchildren, Justin Whichard, Juliane and Jordan Woosley; 2 brothers, Larry Osmunson and his wife, Hedy and Robert Osmunson and his wife, Pat; three sisters, Debbie Youmans, Gale Carter and her husband, Terry, and Susan Swofford and her husband, Hal; and several nieces and nephews, Rob Osmunson, Tricia Fritz, Daniel Clayton, Becky Harper, Steven Osmunson, David Youmans, Jessica Wong, Christopher Swofford, Michael Youmans, and Katie Carter. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Elaine King and her daughters, Jody and Kristen.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 15th at 10 a.m. at Albert Horton Memorial Veterans’ Cemetery, 5410 Milners Road, Suffolk.
