
John Wesley McCoy, 67, of Martinsville and formerly of Vinton, went home to be with his Lord on Sun., July 26, 2015. He passed peacefully at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 3, 1948 in Roanoke, VA to John W. Howell, Jr. and Doris A. Beckner Howell. He was preceded in death by his natural parents, and his adoptive parents Mr. & Mrs. Walter F. McCoy, Sr.
He is survived by one sister, Linda Tickle (Don) of Roanoke, two nephews, three nieces, a son Robert W. McCoy of Cupertino, CA, a daughter Catherine Pillow of Lester, AL, and a son John D. McCoy of Chesapeake, VA.
Mr. McCoy served in the U.S. Navy for 21 yrs. and worked for the US Government for 23 yrs. He was an avid fisherman, a quite knowledgeable gardener, a big Red Skins fan, enjoyed all kinds of auto racing, and loved and enjoyed nature and his surroundings. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Danville, VA.
At Mr. McCoy’s request, there will be no services.
