  2. Joe was my CSM when I was a Battalion Commander in Korea. He was an outstanding leader and a great friend. I will never forget the great times we had together making the Gunfighter Battalion the best in the Army. I could not have made it without him and he will be missed.

He allowed me the latitude to learn, grow and yet provided positive guidance and support. Thanks for being there for me Joe. “Soldier On!”I send my Condolences to Phillip and the entire family.

  10. Although I have only been in the family about 3 years, Joey was indeed someone who had put an impression on me. He always had a joke or crack to make someone laugh. I don’t think I ever seen him without a smile. I always enjoyed it when he called, because he’d make any bad situation better. The last time I seen him was during vacation, driving us through the streets of Virginia Beach on his golf cart, showing us the sights. I will miss Joey so much, he was such a great guy and a wonderful brother in law. I am so proud to say that he was my brother in law.

  14. I hate to speak ill of the dead but you are all incorrect about his military service. Fact is he was busted from SGM to Master Sergeant and forced to retire. He could not control his impulses to gamble and as a result borrowed and stoled from the very people he was charged to serve. Joseph Bachus was a discrace to the uniform and the Army.

  15. I think that it is a DISGRACE that you would have the guts to get on someone’s memorial guestbook and write something so horrible. The family is grieving his death and you have the guts to get on here and say these kinds of things? HOW DARE YOU for one! You are allowed to have your opinions, but how dare you get on here and think that it is right to speak like this. One who served? You should have more respect than this to write about a fellow soldier. You of ALL PEOPLE should have the DECENCY and RESPECT to keep your opinions, which NO ONE believes what you wrote, TO YOUR SELF. You are one of few who make the military look bad. You are such a disgrace! I feel sorry for you. You must feel all high and mighty now, huh? To me, you’re worthless and a p.o.s. Why don’t you do us ALL a favor, get a life, and talk ill of someone else. By the way, Joe is probably laughing at you right now for your ignorance and stupidity. Have a nice day.

  20. To all the signers of this book that think I left the post from those who serve..Guess again Joe was my big brother and I loved him dearly, But the only time he had anything to do with me was when he wanted something and I gave without question and was shafted by him and pj for approx 7000 bucks. Soon after I gave this money to them I never heard another word from either,,So as for those who serves comment what he posted here is true. This is my first time here and I have the guts to stand behind my post So y’all can kiss my rosey red azzJames Bachus

  21. MSG Bacus was my CSM in Korea when I was a PFC and MG Crutchfield was my BM CDR. No matter what happened in his 36 years of service I always had the pleasure of working with him and he was a good Soldier. Remember the good and professional things he did vs the couple mistakes he made. No one signing this page is perfect and no one should throw stones. He was a good person and great father. Remember….. There are three sides to every story- his side, your side, and the truth. If all sides can’t be explained then forget them and remember the good. You will be missed Joe! Air Assault!
