Joseph “Joe” Ragusa, born on November 6, 1941, in New Jersey, peacefully passed away on October 18, 2023, in Virginia Beach. He was a loving husband, loving father to his daughter, cherished friend, and dedicated individual who brought inspiration into the lives of those around him.
Joseph led a life filled with remarkable experiences. While serving nearly 10 years in the Navy, Joseph encountered a life-altering event, a car accident, which resulted in his honorable discharge from the military. Undeterred, he persevered and embarked on a new chapter of his life, transitioning into civilian life.
In 2015, Joseph retired from Patterson Dental, where he devoted his time and energy for many years. He approached his work with passion, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Beyond his professional achievements, Joseph had a wide range of interests that brought him joy. He loved playing cards, chess, and betting on horses at the racetrack, as well as devouring books. He formed connections with people from all walks of life, spreading kindness and compassion.
Those left behind to cherish Joseph’s memory include his wife, Frances Ragusa, a source of strength and happiness for Joseph; his daughter, April Michelle Anne Creed and her husband, Anthony “Tony” Creed, both giving Joseph a sense of joy and pride by seeing their dedication to their work for the VA (Veteran’s Administration). He also leaves behind a brother, Thomas Ragusa and wife Ria Ragusa; two nephews, Steven (Nancy) and Michael (Danielle); and seven of Thomas’s grandchildren.
To celebrate Joseph’s life, a service will be held at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church on November 7, 2023, at 1pm. Everyone that knew Mr. Ragusa is invited to come together and find solace in the shared memories.
Joseph Ragusa’s impact on the world will not be forgotten. His inspiring journey, marked by resilience, dedication, and love, will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
