Joyce Guillot Wise, of New Orleans, Louisiana, entered eternal peace on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. She was a 1950 graduate of John McDonogh High School. Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband, Harold Morrison Wise, her parents, Pliny Pierre Guillot and Alma Carmouche Guillot, her devoted aunt, Virginia Carmouche McMurray (Roger), and her two brothers, Earl Stephen Guillot and Patrick Daniel Guillot.
Joyce was a long-time resident of Chalmette, LA until Hurricane Katrina, when she relocated to Virginia Beach, VA, where she remained until her passing. Joyce was a retired employee of the University of New Orleans (formerly LSUNO) Bookstore for over 25 years. Joyce shared many happy times as a member of the Krewe of Shangri-La. She loved to travel, especially to the Smokey Mountains and San Diego, CA. She loved Mardi Gras, dancing, reading, dining out, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. She was a kind, generous person with a “party girl” personality. Our family was blessed to have had her as our matriarch.
She is survived by her two loving daughters, Ellen W. Salvadore (Eddie) and Cynthia W. Meyers (Gene), her four granddaughters, Leigh Z. Domangue (Ben), Nina S. Freeborn (Chris), Monet S. Wichrowski (Mat), and Katherine E. Camet, and her four great grandchildren, Eddie, Lillian, Henry, and Olive. Joyce will be missed by her many friends and neighbors over the years, especially Bonita, Elaine, and Magda.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
