
Karen was born in Akron, Ohio on April 7, 1954 to Elizabeth Grace Morris Long and Thomas Earl Long. She died in Virginia Beach on July 24, 2015, surrounded by her family who loved her.
She is survived by her four beloved sons: William Brockman, David Brockman, and Samuel Brockman all of Chesapeake, and Joseph Brockman of Norfolk; sister, Alison Leon (Jay) of Morgantown, WVA; sister-in-law, Dana Lee (Bruce) of Chesapeake, VA; two brothers-in-law, Paul Brockman (Theresa) of Bedford, VA, Jim Brockman of Virginia Beach and nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews by whom she will be missed. She is also survived by a wealth of beloved friends who supported her throughout her life and who have been particularly devoted during her illness.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, William H. Brockman, Sr.; her parents, Elizabeth Grace Morris Long and Thomas Earl Long, both natives of West Virginia.
Karen taught for over 25 years. She was at Rock Church Academy for 10 years and Mt. Pleasant Christian School for 7 years as well as teaching at other Christian schools over the years. She was a graduate of West Virginia State University with a B.S. in Business and Regent University with a Master Degree in Education.
She was a lifelong Christian and most recently a member of Church of the Messiah, in Chesapeake, Virginia.
A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, July 31, 2015 at Church of the Messiah in Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the church. Please share your condolences with the family at www.FamilyChoiceFunerals.com
