Katie,
To my surprise again, the first time was the day I came into work and your mother had packed her things and quietly retired from the office without me Thanking her for All she had done for me during my time at MARAD, and to see her obituary in Sunday’s paper was heartbreaking.
Your mother loved you very much, and she loved to talk about you all the time.
My heartfelt Prayers goes out to you and your family. May God continue to keep you in His care.
Be Blessed.
With deepest sympathy,
Monique Leake

Katie, Charles, and Glenda, I was so sorry to read in the Pilot that Karen had passed away. I remember her as a friendly neighbor during my early years in Weblin Place, and her boundless love and devotion to Katie and their kitties. She and Katie were my own faithful kitty sitters when I traveled back home to the Midwest to visit family and friends in the summer. Karen’s close relationship with Katie helped convince me that I wanted to have children of my own, and that I too could balance work and family as a single mom. Karen was so proud of Katie’s achievements! I extend my heartfelt condolences. May you always keep Karen’s memory close. Carol Johnson
