Karen Michele Nolan, age 58, passed away peacefully January 28, 2019. She was born August 11, 1960, in South Carolina, and raised in Virginia Beach, where her love for the sun and sand was born.
On August 9, 1986, she married her love, Michael Francis Nolan, a Sailor, who preceded her in death in 2013.
Karen loved to laugh and go on adventures, she took coffee with her cream, and loved to grab a bite to eat. She loved deeply, and even in her struggles, gave herself to others. She took great pride in being a mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. And, in her final days, she found comfort surrounded by those who loved her, both in presence and in thought.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her children with whom she took great joy and pride in, Jamie and Michael Nolan; her sisters, Susan Tucker and Nancy Mosley; a brother, Stephen Barnes; her nephews, Patrick, Matthew, Kenny, Tyler, and Jeremy; great nieces and nephews, who referred to her fondly as Aunt KK; her mother-in-law, Joan Nolan; brother-in-law, Kevin Nolan; dear friends, Eugenia Brandenburg, Donna and Mike Ogonowski, Linda Lake, Alice Blanco and Larry Watkins, Ricky Blanco, and Teresa Ludwick; and her beloved fat cat, Louie. She is preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Barnes.
In lieu of a service, family and friends will celebrate Karen’s life on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at 1242 E Ocean View Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23503, beginning at Noon. Food and fellowship to follow immediately. Memorial contributions may be made to Sentara Hospice House through the Sentara Foundation Hampton Roads at https://www.tfaforms.com/4688527.
