Katya Kelleher passed away on February 7, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Gen. G.H. and Mrs. Mehr-Angiz Farassat. She was a gourmet cook and enjoyed reading, traveling the world, site-seeing, opera, classical music, and Broadway performances. Katya had an affinity for interior design, and collecting beautiful paintings and art pieces. She loved ancient history and documentaries.
Katya was an amazing woman whose only limitation in accomplishing everything that she could dream of was her severe and debilitating illness. She was a great swimmer (who earned several trophies) and an accomplished gymnast when she was in college. She spoke several languages fluently and loved to learn about everything. Katya was a loving daughter and sister. She was a friend to all who met her. Katya had a heart of gold which was always ready to give and take care of the ones who needed her no matter what it took. Although she had no children of her own, she cared dearly about charities that involved children and regularly donated to their causes. She loved Persian poetry, was well-versed in all literatures and had a vast knowledge of the world history. Katya touched everyone’s heart who had the privilege to meet her; we all are better for knowing her. Her optimistic view in life was unmatched and was a source of hope to the rest of us who relied on her positive outlook. Katya was loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her brothers, Farhad Farassat in Germany and Faroakh Farassat in Iran; and sisters, Fereshteh Fraud in France and Farzaneh F. Wheeler in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Faramarz Farassat and Dr. Fereidoun Farassat.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to a children’s charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 29th in Paris, France.
Condolences may be offered to the family via the online guestbook.

What a lovely tribute! I only met Katya a couple of times, and after reading the tribute she was an amazing woman. She went through so much and did not give up. Fiji you are an amazing and unselfish woman who gave of yourself to take care of your sister. I am sure your sister realized how lucky she was to have a loving sister like you. Be thankful for the wonderful memories and the time you got to spend with your sister and give thanks that Katya is now free of pain and in loving arms.
