I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. – Psalm 139:14 ESV
Lanethia was born January 27th, 1970, in Norfolk, Va. God created Lanethia with a charismatic smile that lit up a room and an infectiously sweet spirit which immediately comforted your heart when you entered her presence.
… a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise. Proverbs 31:30-31 NLT
Around 1996 Lanethia made the greatest decision of her life (and the reason we can celebrate today) by accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. God gave her a never-give-up attitude which sustained her during the bad times and propelled her forward during the good times.
While Lanethia enjoyed, and was well known for her expertise in painting and decorating homes, her true love was for her family. In 1990, she met her husband of 17 years Paul Ruggles and their family grew to include Shawn Sawyer, Talawrence Sawyer, Nathan Sawyer, and Brittney Edwards. Lanethia is tenderly referred to by her children as, “an angel” and she touched so many young lives that she is described by one of their childhood friends as “a mother to all.”
Although Lanethia’s family and friends will miss her more than words can possibly express, Lanethia herself is enjoying her healed, whole and heavenly eternal life now! She is with family members that went before her dancing with Jesus and singing praises to God!
What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole. 1 Peter 1:3 MSG
Our God promises us a future full of hope and Lanethia had great expectations for the future as she was looking forward to the birth of her first grandchild, in February 2015.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Vineyard Community Church, 4444 Expressway Drive, Virginia Beach, Va., 23452.
