Larry McKenzie, 61, passed away peacefully August 1, 2013 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. McKenzie was born October 16, 1951 to the late James and Shirley McKenzie-Scott in Sikeston, Missouri. He served our country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Larry was a long time employee of Anheuser Busch, retiring after 25 years of dedicated service. After retiring, Larry worked for Inter-Chrome Dental Lab as a driver and assistant. Larry’s greatest joys in life were times spent with his family especially with his grandchildren. He loved to fish, working in his garage, and hanging out with his “boys” “Bear, Jackson and Wally” People who knew Larry, knew he had a heart of gold, always willing to help a neighbor or friend or taking time to donate platelets in honor of his grandson Cameron Hewitt. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory is: his loving wife of 41 years, Dawn McKenzie; son, Brian McKenzie and wife Doris: two daughters, Valerie McKenzie, Megan Hewitt and husband Eric; three grandsons: Matthew McKenzie, Michael Schafer and Myles Hewitt; two step-grandchildren, Joseph and Kaitlin Gonzalez; four brothers, Ronald, Robert, Thomas and Michael McKenzie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry is preceded in death by his grandson, Cameron Hewitt.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm, Wednesday, August 7, 2013 with a funeral service to be held at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Judes’ Children’s Hospital or the Plaza Rescue Squad. Please share your condolences with the family at www.familychoicefunerals.com

Although, I didn’t really know Mr.McKenzie , I have known his daughter Megan and her family for the past 8 to 10 years. Mostly via FaceBook. I am so sorry for her and the families loss of the future memories that could be shared had he not passed away. But, I am praying she and everyone will celebrate the wonderful life they have been blessed to have shared. And that one day everyone will be reunited with Cameron; an angel sent from heaven and Mr. McKinzie. It is my belief that the bible is the Word of God and we are promised–John 14:1-4 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

So sorry for your lose. We had him in our prayers and will continue to keep your family in our prayers.
Larry was a big part of our life’s and he will be missed greatly. Interchrome Dental Lab will never be the same without Larry. He was one of the sweetest and kind people I have had the privilege to get to know and work with. To all his family and friends we are so sorry for your loss, we pray that God will give you strength in this difficult time. Larry’s great sense of humor and his friendly and kind personality will always be cherished and remembered by all of us.
My prayers go out to Larry’s family he spoke so lovingly about. My days at the office were made brighter each time Larry came to deliver or pick up a case. He was very comforting and caring and had such a great easy going personality. He always offered a kind word and a smile. I knew he was the kind of person who just simply loved his job and life. Rob always said to me how he wished he could find an employee as great as Larry. I remember his photo in a frame hanging in Eddies lab at Robs office with the notation In bold ink proudly saying “our first employee”. He was special. I know Rob and Larry are now together in heaven and that thought brings me a bit of joy as I hope it does his family. God Bless, Tami Kenney
What a beautiful”life celebration” service. Larry was a blessed man. May his family know Gods peace as they grieve their loss. Thankful for the hope we have in Christ. Grateful to have known Larry-we miss him so much at the lab…
