
Lawrence Lynwood Toms, 86, son of the late Elmer and Julia Toms, died February 19, 2014. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Wisconsin. He retired from Food Lion.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Mabel; two grandsons, Zackery Toms (Amy), and Jason Garrett (Amanda); two great-grandsons, Adam and William Toms; a great-granddaughter, Addie Lea Garrett; a number of step-grandchildren; a brother, Chuck Toms; a brother-in-law, Alfred Cregger; several nieces; a nephew; a great-nephew, special adopted family, Ernie, Peggy, Michelah, and Kyle King; special friends, Bill and Betty Falls, Darlene and Don Oakes; and other friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by brothers, Gerald and Richard Toms; a daughter, Lea Martin; and a son, Larry Toms.
All services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bereavement Committee of Oakland Baptist Church.
