
Leon Lovel “Red” Griffin, 54, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in Norfolk, VA. Born on March 17, 1960 in Norfolk, VA, he was the son of Barbara Griffin and the late Leon Geth, and husband of the late Pamela Griffin. Red served a tour of duty in the Virginia National Guard and later worked as a Custodian for Davita Dialyses in Hampton Roads. He was a member of St. Andrews Church of God in Christ in Norfolk, VA. Red was the world’s greatest Dallas Cowboys fan and also liked the Philladelphia 76’s. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and friendly, outgoing nature, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Jean Griffin of Chesapeake, VA; three sisters, Victoria Griffin of Chesapeake, VA, Faith Mitchell and her husband, Rufus of Kileen,TX, Carmiller Mayo of Detroit, MI; five brothers, George Griffin of Chesapeake, VA, Derwin Griffin and his wife, Janice of Chesapeake, VA, Terrance Griffin and his wife, Angela of Suffolk, VA, Quinton Griffin and his wife, Joyce of Chesapeake, VA, Wayne Morgan and his wife, Anita of Chesapeake, VA; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations 5401 Indian River Road Virginia Beach, VA 23464. A funeral service will follow the visitation. Bishop Johnnie L. Reid of Garrett Community Baptist Church will officiate the service.
