CHESAPEAKE – Linwood M. Ewell, 93, of Chesapeake, passed away on November 5, 2010. A native of Portsmouth, he was the son of the late Clarence and Millie Jones Ewell and husband of the late Virginia Mae Ewell. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and a Purple Heart from his service in World War II in the Italian Campaign. He retired as an Electronic Measurement Equipment Mechanic from Norfolk Naval Air Rework Facility after thirty-four years of service.
He is survived by a daughter, Gloria Tappe of Chesapeake; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their gratitude to his care-givers, Sheila, Melanie, Carolyn, Casi, and Tabatha.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations, 5401 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 12 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby Street, Norfolk.
