Maria Teresa Depwe, 78, passed away on May 31, 2013 in Norfolk. A native of Girardot, Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Cecilo and Petronila Rodriguez Godoy. Maria loved her God and Savior, Jesus Christ, and loved to listen to, and sing, hymns of praise, and travel. A superb organizer, she worked as an Executive Secretary in the Insurance industry.

She is survived by three sisters, Maria Gema Mello of Virginia Beach, and Nina and Cecilia Godoy of Bogota, Columbia; three nieces, Claudia Rider of Virginia Beach, and Constanza and Marcela Rodriguez of Bogota, Columbia; a great-niece, Jennifer Larios of Virginia Beach; a great-nephew, Adam Rider of Virginia Beach; and many other great-nieces and great-nephews whom she loved. In addition to her parents, Maria is predeceased by a sister, Elvia Godoy; and four brothers, Jesus, David, Gregorio, and Pedro Godoy.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 7th, at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations, 5401 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach. Interment will follow at 12:30 at Colonial Grove Memorial Park, 3445 Princess Anne Rd., Virginia Beach.

    The Bible gives us the wonderful prospect of seeing our loved ones again on a paradise earth. At Psalms 37:9-11 & 29, it gives us the hope of living forever on a paradise earth. It will be a time when Isaiah 33:24 will take place and “no resident will say ‘I am sick.” On this paradise earth, Rev. 21:4 promises us that “death will be no more.” I know this may not relieve your deep grief at this time, but please take faith in God’s promises.
