John Mark Mihocka, November 3, 1960 to May 17, 2022
John Mark Mihocka “Mark” was an exceptional man; a wonderful son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to so many. He was a selfless servant of God who made an impact on everyone he encountered. Mark left his earthly body on May 17, 2022 after a sudden and short illness.
Mark was happiest when he was serving others, whether in lending an ear, helping with a car repair, fiddling with electricity around the house or just talking about how to solve a seemingly unsolvable problem. There was never a shortage of things to discuss with Mark, as he thrived on researching obscure topics to seek the facts and share them.
In recent years he spent many hours celebrating his faith at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where he was the president of the congregation as well as an A/V expert. He spent countless hours preparing for Sunday services to ensure that everything was just right with the streaming services; Mark knew that for many the only way they could worship was online from their homes. In his last days with us he shared a great number of stories and memories of his work with the church, they were his proudest moments.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, John Mihocka and his grandparents. He is survived by his loving mother Christine Seely (nee Walden), brothers David Mihocka (Mary Jo), Jim Mihocka (Catherine), nieces Tara, Tori Mihocka, nephews Evan and Timothy Mihocka, aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
Be not afraid, I go before you always. Come follow me, and I will give you rest.
In place of flowers, please consider donations in Mark’s name to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Virginia Beach, VA.
Services will take place on Friday, May 20, with visitation from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Funeral Services to follow at 6:00 pm, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 424 King’s Grant Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23452

My condolences to Mark’s Family and Friends. I knew Mark for many years. He was a selfless and caring loving individual. He always had a smile on his face. He cared deeply for his family and friends. Mark was a great guy, that you could talk to whenever you had a problem or just needed to talk.
Mark will be truly missed.
R.I.P. my dear friend.
David and Family-
So very sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.
Mark when I heard you had a heart attack and was in the Hospital. I thought for sure everything would be alright! You have been losing weight and you have been looking Good!! Of course you would recover. But that is my dream world!! Joy texted me and said you were doing worst. I text Sheryl. I am out of town. You know I would have been there. I tried sending Ricky because If you knew who was there you would try harder to hang on. You know we would have to talk about it!! I am so sorry you are gone! You were always there to help me. With my heat and my dishwasher!! Before Covid Sheryl was coming down I know we would have all gone to Dinner! I think I still owe you Dinner for helping me with my appliances or helping with my Pets!! I don’t even know if you know Bella had Puppies!! She had 7 puppies they have been a handful, but really rewarding. I am so sorry I am out of town. I really wanted to meet your mother and family. I do feel like I am in my dreamland because I can’t believe your gone!! You should have bought a new truck a couple of years ago!! I hope you have one in heaven! God Bless you Mark I know a lot of people will miss you. You were such a kind caring man!! Prayers and Blessings to your Family.

It is with great sadness that we heard the news about Mark, he always had his gentle smile and words of encouragement. Though we were friends via long distance we still seemed very close. He will be missed by all. The LegalShield Team will also miss him. Our Prayer and condolences to his family. Rest in peace.
Prayers for Comfort of the loss of Mark.
Please accept my condolences. I’m sending thoughts of peace and courage your way; sending you strength to get through this difficult time. Mark was a good friend and will be missed by a tremendous amount of people.
Farewell my friend, I will miss you
So sorry for your family at this time. I worked with Mark and he was a good man and always friendly to everyone he met. I will miss his questions every week. Such a loss to the family and the country. His service to the sailors on the tip of the spear will not be forgotten and his knowledge of radars will be a huge loss to the warfighters. Rest in peace Mark we have the watch for you now. . With sadness/ Bill Wood

My heart goes out to Mark’s entire family and friends. Mark was an exceptional man. Intelligent, kind, authentic, caring, funny and all things good. I have known Mark for nearly 40 years, each and every year better than the rest. Mark loved God, Family and Friends dearly. If he called you dear, he meant it. Love you Forever.
I am Deeply saddened and heartbroken over the sudden loss of my friend Mark!💔

Mark was a great mentor, co-worker, and above all else a friend. I will miss our interactions and conversations and sending thoughts and prayers to all family and friends.

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.”
Mark – you were a very kind and good friend when John passed away last year. I appreciated your checking in with me regularly, offering advice, and sharing your high school memories of my husband. I’m still in shock at your loss and you will very much be missed. My heartfelt sympathies to your family – I know from our discussions how deeply you loved them.
Prayers for this family and all of his friends. Mark will be missed.
I was fortunate to meet Mark several years ago through my friend, Ginger. Even though we only saw each other once or twice a year at conventions, I considered Mark a friend. He was kind, caring and giving. I will miss him. Hugs and prayers for his family.
Having known Mark for several years at Prince of Peace, I was always blessed by his gentle, almost shy smile, his easy mannerisms and his attentive, listening ear. He was in the best sense of the term a sweet man; easy to be around, caring, loving, gentle, and dedicated to his Lord Jesus Christ. Not everyone is cut out to be the president of a congregation but Mark took it on and did it well. Under his leadership many things happened in our congregation, positive, good, healthy things. He will be deeply missed by our entire congregation, but…..and this is huge….through our shared faith in Jesus, we will meet again around our Lord’s throne, praising our Creator and our Redeemer. Thanks to God for “loaning” us Mark for 61 years.
It is so difficult to believe that Mark is really gone. I know that our David feels like he’s lost his best buddy as well as his brother. We will all miss his smile. May the memories of the good times with Mark comfort all of us.
To the Mihocka family, please accept our sincere and heartfelt condolences for your family. As you know, and many have already said, Mark was a servant leader. Service was his “Super Power”! He was always willing to help even before we would ask for help. His soft spoken demeanor could never hide his true Champion attitude! My wife Carole and I consider ourselves blessed to have known and called Mark our friend.
We are so sorry to hear about Mark. Wishing you peace during this difficult time. I wish more people had the pleasure of knowing Mark.
My husband and I met Mark a couple of years ago! Wonderful spirit, great personality, and a heart of gold! Sending thoughts and prayers to good family and friends!
Words alone can’t express my deepest sadness knowing that I won’t be able to see that face, Mark, always with an expression of kindness. Mark was such a Servant Gentlemen and will surely be missed. He always had a willing heart to help anybody. I’m so glad that I got to meet and know Mark thur our mutual business, in LegalShield. He was a friend. God bless and keep his mother and family now and forever. LoLove Carolyn
