
Mary Cothran Copeland, 74, passed away peacefully at home in Sedley, VA, surrounded by her loving family. Born November 14, 1939 in Rougemont, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Cothran and Hettie Ashley Cothran. Mary loved to interact with people while she worked as a Sales Associate in the grocery department at Wal-mart. When at home, she loved to spend time with her family, gardening, and watching sports on the television. Mary will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her significant other, Karen O. Gentry; daughters, Kathy Larsen and her husband, Shawn of Cookeville, TN, Christine Cutchins, and Linda Gregory of Sedley, VA; son, James Copeland of Sedley, VA; grandchildren, Sarah Gregory Williams and her husband, Jay, James Cole Gregory, Abbey Gail Gregory, Stacey Fleetwood, Andrea Fleetwood, April Cutchins, and Paul Gyoker and his wife, Emily; great-grandchildren, Lucas Cutchins, Samantha Gyoker, Hanna Gyoker, and Cammryn Williams; and her beloved Jack Russell Terrier, Joey. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her brother, Thelbert Cothran; and grandson, John Curtis Gregory.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Sedley Fire Department, 18080 Johnsons Mill Road, Sedley, VA 23878.
