Mary Louise Sirrine, 82, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Born April 5, 1929 in St. Johns, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Margaret Andrews Puetz. She taught in a one-room rural schoolhouse before marrying her high school sweetheart, who became a Navy pilot. Mary spent the rest of her life seeing through the eyes of a Navy wife and stay-at-home mom, raising five children and babysitting for several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity. She loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many friends they met throughout the years. Mary volunteered at the Church of the Holy Apostles in Virginia Beach where she was a member, helping out wherever she was needed. She and her husband enjoyed spending every summer at the lake in Crystal, MI, swimming, clearing the waterfront of rocks, and having fun with friends and family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Jack D. Sirrine; four daughters, Marcia Reece of Ledyard, CT, Gail Orland and her husband, Raymond of Suffolk, Leigh Szarka of St. Johns, MI, and Janet Woodall and her husband, Jere of Dublin, OH; a son, Scott Sirrine and his wife, Lisa of Virginia Beach; twelve grandchildren, several great-grandchildren (with more on the way); and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 2:00PM, at the Church of the Holy Apostles, 1593 Lynnhaven Parkway, Virginia Beach, VA 23453.
The family would like to thank the staff of Pacifica Senior Living-Virginia Beach and Heartland Hospice for their tender and loving care during Mrs. Sirrine’s illness.
The family requests memorial donations to Church of the Holy Apostles or to the Alzheimer’s Association
Condolences may be shared via the online guestbook.

Stories – Well, I have many for Janet and I grew up together (Norfolk Catholic High School/Old Dominion University/Sorority Sisters, etc.) and I was her “Maid of Honor” in her wedding. Throughout our years together, both Mr. and Mrs. Sirrine treated me as one of their own children!! At age 16, when I first received my driver’s license – Well, I have to admit that I wasn’t all that great of a driver and I backed into their neighbor’s telephone pole when they were living in Poplar Halls and damaged the back end of my car severely – WHAT A MISHAP AND MY OWN FATHER WAS DEFINITELY NOT PLEASED WITH ME FOR THE DAMAGES I OCCURRED, especially with the Insurance Charges that were applied!!! And 39 years later – I still hear about the time I misjudged and hit this telephone pole!!
With Love and Respect,

Broken Chain by Ron Tranmer –
We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
Love, Gail & Ray
I never met your mother but after reading her obituary, it was obvious that she was a very loving and giving person not only to her family but her friends and her church family. I know she will be truly missed by all. You have our most deepest sympathies.
Love, Diane and Casey
