My heart goes out to the Gerrity Family. I am so sorry to hear about Mike’s passing.
To Eileen, Kimberly, and everyone in Mike’s family: Heidi and I share with you this incredibly disheartening sense of loss and sadness. When Mike came into a room, everyone’s face lit up. He was that rare kind of person who could coax a laugh out anyone, no matter their mood. My own life would have been much the lesser had I not had the chance to know Mike. I will thank him ’til my dying breath for the help he gave me when we were serving together as Navy recruiters in the early 1980’s. He always thought of himself last and the Navy and his shipmates first. A humble man, Mike would be aghast at what I’m going to say next. But if I could somehow wave a magic wand and assemble a dream team of sailors to form the perfect shipboard division, Chief Petty Officer Mike Gerrity would be my number one draft pick. He was a good shipmate and I will miss him always.
To Eileen and Kimberly
So very sorry for your loss
You are in our thoughts and our prayers
