Milagros “Millie”A. Lopez, 64, died Monday, February 9, 2015 in the Chesapeake Health and Rehabilitation Center after a two year struggle with a series of strokes. In hospice care prior to her death, Millie died peacefully in her sleep.
Millie was born in the Dominican Republic to Pedro Lopez and Sofia M. Fajardo on April 27, 1951. She studied nursing in the Dominican Republic prior to relocating to New York in 1972, where she lived the majority of her life. She worked as a medical assistant for over 30 years and was an active humanitarian. Long known for her positive outlook on life, willingness to help others, and her sense of humor, she drew in those around her in a captivating way. She enjoyed spending time with family above all else and was a die-hard Yankees fan.
Millie is preceded in death by her father, Pedro Lopez in 1953, who died at the age of 27.
Millie is survived by her daughter Diana S. Zambrano and husband Susuky; daughter Priscilla S. Perez and husband Jonathan, mother Sofia M. Fajardo, grandsons Aleksander S. Zambrano and Elija S. Perez, granddaughter Kayleigh D. Zambrano, sisters R. Amanda Dominguez and Rosa A. Lopez, nephews Rafael Dominguez and Rafael Marte, nieces Ingrid Dominguez, Yasidney Marte and Melissa Marte, and many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews.
A private memorial service was held at Family Choice Funeral Home in Virginia Beach, VA for family members.

Milagros “Milo” A. Lopez, 64, murió lunes, 09 de febrero de 2015 en el Centro Chesapeake de Salud y Rehabilitación después de una lucha de dos años con una serie de derrames cerebrales. En cuidados paliativos antes de su muerte, Milo murió pacíficamente mientras dormía.
Milo nació en la República Dominicana a Pedro Lopez y Sofia M. Fajardo el 27 de abril de 1951.
