Surrounded by her loving family, Nancy Ann Beaver Justis passed away on July 24, 2016 after courageously battling an illness. Eighty-one years earlier on April 11, she was born in Roanoke, Virginia. After spending her early childhood in Roanoke, her family relocated to Norfolk where she graduated Norview High School and looked after her younger brother, not letting him get into her famous fudge until it was ready.
On December 19, 1953, Nancy said “I do” to her high school sweetheart, Preston T. Justis, who stood adoringly by her side for 63 wonderful years. Together they raised four children and created a lifetime of memories. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. To say she will be greatly missed is an understatement.
No one who had the opportunity to meet Nancy will forget her compassionate spirit or loving heart. When thinking of her, “warm,” is a word that first comes to mind, inspiring those who continue her legacy. Nancy enjoyed going to her Monday luncheon with friends, watching blue birds in her garden, and reading novels.
She is survived by her husband, Preston, and four children, Preston S. Justis (Mary Justis), Linda L. Lawless, Mark T. Justis, and Lisa A. Donovan (Mark Donovan). She is further survived by her brother Charles E. Beaver, Jr. (Joan L. Beaver), her two nephews, Charles “Chip” E. Beaver III and Michael A. Beaver, as well as her five grandchildren, Jennifer E. Justis, David M. Justis, Dr. Michael H. Lawless (USN Lt.), Brianne N. Donovan, and Lindsey E. Donovan.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 27 at 11:00 in the morning at Family Choice Funeral Home on Indian River Road, followed by a gathering.

I was so sorry to hear about Nancy’s passing. Unfortunately, I did not see the notice in the Virginian Pilot announcing the funeral arrangements, otherwise I
would have attended. My deepest condolences on your loss.
